Front Door

The Front Door

We always used the backdoor. It was closest to the stone grill, the lawn chairs, the shed, the clothesline, and the outhouse. The backyard also boasted the best view of the river. And, at the backyard's outermost edges began the paths to the cottages, the pastures, and the beach.

The front yard, though, that's where we'd go after a rain to get the night crawlers, or on clear nights to see the milky way. Every member of the family will still swear there are more stars in that front yard than anywhere else on earth.
